Deep thoughts

How can two awesome knitting things (knitting in the round + garter stitch) equal one not awesome thing (knitting garter stitch in the round)??

    because knitting garter in the round would be one round knit, one round purl, and the purpose (for me at least) for knitting in the round is to avoid the purls.
